A checklist before you buy a gold bar
Last updated: 17 October 2026
General information from ORELITH Jewellery in Ruwi, Muscat. It is not financial advice and it does not include prices.
1. Weight and size
The weight should be stated clearly and match what is marked on the bar and in the paperwork.
2. Purity
Ask for the stated purity and where it is written down. Purity should appear in the paperwork, not only be said aloud.
3. Serial number
Check that the serial number on the bar matches the serial number in the paperwork. If there is no serial number, ask why.
4. Independent checking
Ask whether you can verify the bar yourself, for example with a QR code that opens an online verification page. ORELITH bars carry a QR code on the back and a verification page.
5. How the price is made up
Ask how the price is calculated and whether any fees apply, so you can compare sellers on the same basis.
6. Paperwork and packaging
Keep the case, packaging and paperwork together. If anything does not match, do not proceed until it is explained.
